Hello USAFA Florida Gulf Coast Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. Sarah and I would like to remind everyone about the next planned meeting for our club. We'll be meeting at Pier Teaki and Teak, in St Petersburg, on February 24th. We're excited about the planning of events in 2024 that we'll discuss. We have the Air Show at MacDill, the new appointee picnic, and the Send Off at MacDill all happening in the 1st and 2nd quarters of the year. Plus, we always reserve time for us to talk about how our cadet is doing while on the hill or what they are doing as 2nd Lieutenants after graduating. What I think we all feel is the best part of our meetings! Pier Tiki is about a 5–10-minute walk from the parking lot and is located on the fifth floor. Please plan to arrive by 9:15 am so we can start on time. Here are the details: Saturday, February 24th, 2024 Pier Teaki and Teak St. Pete Pier, 800 2nd Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL Here is the timeline: 9:30am- 9:45am Meet and Greet. Please allow enough time for parking and walking to the event. 9:45am-10:30am Club Meeting. (Meeting will adjourn as close to 10:30 as we can, but may go over depending on conversation) 10:45am seating for brunch This is a repeat of last year's great turnout with a club meeting on the rooftop bar to discuss plans and then brunch/lunch (on own) downstairs at Teak. We'll be seated together (still separate tables) this year to enjoy more conversation along with the magnificent views of Tampa Bay. We are incredibly grateful that Kristen Osborne (daughter Camryn, USAFA c/o '25) is a manager at Teak and volunteered and arranged to host us again. Please respond to the Sign-Up Genius attached if you plan to attend. We hope you can make it. Again, we look forward to seeing you soon on Saturday, February 24th, 9:30am at Pier Teaki and Teak! Steve & Sarah Ellis USAFA Florida Gulf Coast Parents' Club Presidents sarahpellis98@gmail.com Hello!
We have received many questions about this and wanted to make sure we communicated the ticket information for Parents Weekend. As we did last year, we have requested a block to sit together at the Parents’ Weekend football game against the Robert Morris Colonials on 2 September 2023. However, this year we are doing something a little different and we will be partnering with all Florida Parents Clubs to sit together! The more, the merrier! It looks like we have 2 sections strategically located to see the game and the cadet area, which is a real treat to watch! As many of you know, the cadets are required to attend the game. It's a lot of fun, and obviously a centerpiece of Parents’ Weekend. We hope you will purchase the tickets to sit together as a group in our block! In the past, the squadrons have cookouts or tailgate-type functions before the game around the stadium and parents are usually allowed to mingle with their cadets and squadron mates at their cookout. For that reason, we do not have a club gathering Saturday morning prior to the game to let families visit with their cadets and some of their friends. The specifics of plans can vary among squadrons. Visiting with your cadet at their squad’s tailgate is fun but we wanted to mention after your visit, you have the option to allow your cadet to enjoy the camaraderie with their classmates and still allow us as parents to reconvene at the Association of Graduates, (AOG) Tailgate as well. This AOG tailgate is at an additional cost, details will come at a later date. The AOG tailgate is great! Tented with seating areas and tables, catered in food and drink vouchers. A nice place to stop as parents and have something to eat, drink and mingle and maybe take a little less pressure off our cadets to feel obligated to entertain us while they're trying to enjoy their own tailgate with their classmates. Details for this are to follow. The cadets are required to sit together at the game and do not need to have us buy them tickets in the block. However, in the past, and I assume this year as well, cadets can come over and sit with parents elsewhere in the stadium for a chunk of time during the game. Based on our prior years, there is enough room to have that work well. Typically, the timing and details are subject to squadron leadership rules and any other USAFA decisions (as is true for virtually all activities!) Below is the information for our you to purchase football tickets in our block: Here is your unique link for your group: https://fevo.me/flparents23 Please note: Each person/family will be purchasing their tickets individually. Tickets will go on sale June 2. Tickets will be sent directly to the purchaser, not the Parents Club contact. All tickets will be delivered electronically and will be mobile tickets, which will need to be downloaded onto a smart phone prior to arriving at USAFA. For questions regarding tickets or if you need assistance, please email Tickets.PW@airforceathletics.org or call 719-472-1895. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions! Aim High!
